N.E.C. Nijmegen manager Dick Schreuder is attracting interest from Leicester City, who are keen to hold talks for the League One head coach position. According to The Sun, the English club, in search of a new manager, admires Schreuder's impressive track record and his ability to implement attacking football.
Under Dick Schreuder's leadership, N.E.C. Nijmegen has excelled in the Eredivisie this season. The club currently sits third with three games left, three points behind Feyenoord and one point ahead of Ajax and AZ Alkmaar. This marks a significant improvement from last season, when N.E.C. finished eighth.
N.E.C. Nijmegen's success this season also includes reaching the Dutch Cup final, although they lost 5-1 to AZ. The 54-year-old Schreuder is noted for his attacking football and for creating prolific teams, evidenced by 73 goals in 31 league matches this season, with only leaders PSV scoring more.
His previous successes include winning promotion with PEC Zwolle in the 2022-2023 season, where his team scored an impressive 99 goals in 38 matches. He then moved to Castellon in Spain’s third tier, earned promotion and finished as top scorers, before being sacked midway through the next La Liga 2 season after four straight defeats.
Dick Schreuder joined N.E.C. Nijmegen last summer. If N.E.C. Nijmegen finishes at least fourth, it will mark the club's best-ever campaign. His experience also extends to England, where he worked as part of Edgar Davids’ staff at Barnet in 2014.
At Leicester City, Gary Rowett’s deal expires after this weekend’s game against Blackburn. While Rowett has expressed interest in the job, the club is thought to be looking elsewhere, with new sporting director James McCarron involved in the appointment. The reported interest in Schreuder, on April 29, 2026, underscores his growing reputation in European football.
